Deck cleaning is about the surface you walk on, not automatically restoring, sanding or re-oiling the timber. Natural timber, composite boards and coated decking can require different care. The assessment starts with that material and finish, along with the condition of the boards and the areas included.

What’s separate.
Timber grain, existing coatings and weathering influence the appropriate method. An aggressive approach can affect the surface, so pressure is not a substitute for assessing the boards. A clean can address dirt and growth within the quoted scope, but it cannot reverse splintering, rot or a failing finish.
A composite board should not be treated as ordinary timber without checking its care instructions. Painted, stained or sealed decks also need the existing finish considered. Areas with peeling coatings, loose edges or previous treatment may need separate attention before cleaning is suitable.
The walking surface is not the whole outdoor area. Steps, balustrades, screens and adjoining fencing should be listed if they are part of the clean. Outdoor furniture and pot plants need a plan for moving them, with access clear to the included areas.
A maintenance clean and preparation for a new coating have different requirements. Anyone applying an oil, stain or paint needs to specify the preparation and drying conditions for that product. A normal deck-cleaning booking does not establish that the surface is ready for a particular coating or include applying it.
